Thermo-Friendly Engineering and Mechatronic Integration
Machining critical aerospace housings, complex multi-axis brackets, and precision gearbox casings requires stable thermal management. Japanese Okuma simultaneous 5-Axis CNC Milling centers utilize an integrated mechatronic design combining thermo-symmetric casting structures with the proprietary Thermo-Friendly Concept (TFC). Rather than fighting natural ambient temperature changes, the machine structure expands predictably in unison with thermal sensors, allowing the proprietary OSP CNC system to calculate real-time spatial deformation offsets down to sub-micron accuracy.
The diagonally ribbed cast-iron frame delivers exceptional structural rigidity during heavy roughing of high-strength alloys such as Titanium Grade 5 and 7075-T6 Aerospace Aluminum. High-torque integral motor spindles running up to 20,000 RPM eliminate mechanical drive gear vibration, ensuring clean cutting dynamics and extending cutter life during uninterrupted multi-hour milling cycles.
Geometric Volumetric Accuracy and True Position Control
Achieving consistent geometric accuracy on multi-angled prismatic components requires rigorous adherence to GD&T True Position standards. Okuma 5-axis rotary tables feature absolute optical rotary encoders on both the A-axis tilt and C-axis rotary drives, eliminating backlash and ensuring angular positioning accuracy within ±2 arcseconds. In-process touch probing dynamically aligns workpiece datums before critical boring and contouring passes commence.
Surface quality on 3D sculpted profiles and angled sealing planes meets strict Surface Roughness Standards down to Ra 0.4 μm directly off the finishing cutter. Post-machining quality validation is conducted using automated CMM Metrology Inspection inside cleanroom metrology labs to verify full 3D profile conformity.
